Dorothy Gannon Award
Each year WSHHRA honors one of our members with the Dorothy
Gannon Award. This award recognizes a member’s single
or long-term contribution to the human resources management profession
and to WSHHRA.
Dorothy Gannon was one of the founders of WSHHRA in the late 1960s.
For over twenty years, she was the Director of Human Resources for
Tacoma General Hospital, which is now part of the MultiCare Health
System. She exemplified the role of human resources through her
dedication to employees and she took great strides in improving
the workplace and fostering professional growth. Dorothy was a tireless
supporter of WSHHRA and served as Board Treasurer for over 16 years.
She is remembered for her vast knowledge and expertise and for being
available as a mentor and friend to WSHHRA members who were just
starting out in the health care HR field for the first time.
This award, which was established at Dorothy’s retirement,
is a special honor commemorating Dorothy's work and dedication to
our profession. The award is presented at the spring conference.
