About Washington
State Healthcare
Human Resources Association
The Washington State
Healthcare Human Resource Association (WSHHRA) is a state-wide membership organization
made up of human resource professionals that are working in health care
institutions or organizations related to health care. We have an
affiliation with the national association, the American Society for
Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA).
Over the past 15
years, WSHHRA has grown to over 180 members. Membership is voluntary and a
nominal dues payment is required at the beginning of the new year.
Two state conferences are
held each year — in the spring and fall. The conferences are designed by
the Program Committee, made up of volunteer members and chaired by the
President Elect. Our conferences strive to present a combination of diverse
and relevant topics, networking opportunities, and fun and social
activities. Conference attendance is approved for SPHR/PHR educational
credits through the Society of Human Resource Management. Conferences are
scheduled as 1 ½ day events starting on Thursday and ending at noon on Friday.
We hold an optional golf outing on the Wednesday prior to the conference.
In addition to our
outstanding conferences, members receive a membership roster complete with
phone numbers and e-mail addresses, providing an invaluable list of
professionals to network with and share information. Contacting other
members with specific questions has proven to be one of the pluses of
membership and a great asset for your HR toolbox.
Finally, our
Association has a new web site (www.wshhra.org)
where you can always find the membership roster, archived newsletters,
conference agendas and registration, legislative updates, and so much more.
Since our web site’s sole purpose is to provide information that is useful
to our members, we encourage your feedback and input.

Prior to 2009 WSHHRA
honored one of the members with the Dorothy
Gannon Award. The award recognized a member’s single or
long-term contribution to the human resources management profession and to
WSHHRA. In 2009 in honor of one of
the founding members of WSHHRA, a brand new award, the Kathy Franz Excellence in HR Leadership Award was presented for
the first time. Kathy has worked at Yakima Memorial Hospital
for 35 years and is truly a legend in the State.
